  • IT Support

I just upgraded my firmware to Macajuel 2.0.1.04 Corn Beef Sandwich…..this version is slightly more financially responsible, reasonably on time more often and far less susceptible to being taken advantage of #truestory

  • Selective Sensitivity

Right after the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, when the United States and  much of the civilized world was plunged into mourning there apparently there was a similar school shooting around the same time in China. Nobody gave a shit.

Today a headline flashes across my  twitter feed about a massacre of over 100 people. I was dismayed and appropriately horrified.

    ……….until I saw the location…..Syria.

“Oh….okay, meh, nothing to see here.”

When did life become so cheap?

Life isn’t cheap, it’s just decidedly less expensive in some nations vs others. Since the Syrian conflict began, you almost immediately began to hear stories of mass murder, executions  and such. You keep hearing stories like that on a daily basis and as human nature would dictate, people get desensitized. Nobody seems to care about what’s going on over there anymore, what’s the value of one life? What’s half a million?

Apparently if it’s counted in Syrian blood………not much.

Had that headline read: “100 dead in downtown Miami massacre,” I guarantee you’d be having a very different kind of day right about now.

  • Communication

I’m trying to order Thai food but neither I nor the lady on the phone seem to be understanding each other. I think I ordered basil fried rice with chicken but for all I know I may end up with curry monkfish and snap peas…..pressure.

It’s hard enough already as a trini trying to order food when it’s American so you could imagine the horrors when dealing with other cultures with accents just as thick.

  • Yuh know what?

I think I probably need to give smallies a rest for a while, probably play PS3 or something for the next year or so. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with the ladies or anything…….seriously, it’s me.

It’s because when I’m exposed to someone I like, I fall HARD; I mean dotish as in fell out the Stupid Tree and hit every branch on the way down. In case you’re not paying attention, that means rhell dotish, or toutoulbay as they call it in my native tongue.

A common side effect of toutoulbay is “empty wallet” followed by random bouts of “pressha,” all of which I’d like to avoid in the new year thank you very much.

  • Reading is fundamental

I once read a story about a deep cover, special forces anti-espionage team that on more than one occasion thwarted nuclear war, helped repel a Russian invasion of US soil and stymied an attempt by clandestine terrorist organizations to force the world into World War 3, only to be betrayed by the US general that once commanded them, forced to endure the indiscriminate slaughter of their team members and be branded international criminals in the end for their troubles……….oh wait that’s just the plot for Modern Warfare.

My bad folks, great stories don’t come from video games, they’re apparently just murderer training/simulation devices.

    Carry on.

  • It ain’t the gamers

Let me just go ahead and address this issue before it gets out of hand. Pushing a button on a wireless controller to fake-shoot pixelated representations of human beings in no way grants me the training necessary to fire real world weapons nor does it grant me the predisposition to want to harm human beings in real life.

So all this bullshit about blaming gamers for all the various school shootings and other heinous shootings/massacres in recent history is nonsense. But it’s fine, we’ll be your convenient scapegoat rather than force the world to hold parents accountable for the value systems they impart on their wayward children.

Every generation needs a scapegoat right? In the seventies it was rock and roll, the eighties, violence in movies. The nineties through today, every piece of sick, twisted cacaholery to hit the news was blamed on gaming, from the Oklahoma City bombing, to Columbine, Virginia Tech and now Newtown Connecticut.

Good thing video gaming wasn’t around during the forties or they’d have pinned the Holocaust on us too. There are sick people out there folks, but trust me, violent video games don’t have a shit to do with it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m grieved and extremely dismayed by the events in Connecticut last Friday, I pray everyday for those lost souls. All I’m saying is don’t be so hasty to point fingers.
